Nostradamus prediction: Was prophecy of ‘scourge’ and ‘plague’ a coronavirus warning?

CORONAVIRUS has infected more than 100,000 people since December, fuelling bizarre conspiracies and rumours the epidemic was predicted by Nostradamus nearly 500 years ago. Did Nostradamus warn the world of a devastating plague?

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has spread through China like wildfire, infecting tens of thousands with pneumonia-like symptoms. The disease, which emerged in Wuhan city last year, has also killed at least 2,933 people.

The rapid spread of the coronavirus has led many conspiracy theories to believe the outbreak was predicted in 1555.

Social media is rife with claims the epidemic was predicted by Michel de Nostradme in his book Les Propheties.

The French astrologer and supposed mystic is believed by many to be a prophet who predicted future events with great accuracy.

Nostradamus’ followers credit the writer with predicting the rise of Adolf Hitler in 1933 and the Great Fire of London in 1666 – but did Nostradamus predict the coronavirus?

One Twitter user said: “465 years ago, French prophet Nostradamus predicted about #Coronavirus”

Another person tweeted: “Nostradamus predicted bat soup and Wuhan 2020 as the end of the world.”

A Twitter user also said: “This is not WUHAN war but all world, as Nostradamus predicted… people will die with no blood in massive amounts.

“You can stop it is impossible as we all one, we eat seafood, we breath air, we travel, we touch, we connected and virus can move easily…”

Twitter user Rebecca Bachar said: “As an aside, it is something how Nostradamus predicted the impeachment so many centuries ago.

“Also, Baba Vanga predicts that POTUS will catch an unknown illness which is probably going to be the Coronavirus. History can be predicted.”

Nostradamus penned his supposed prophecies and predictions in short poems dubbed quatrains.

The bulk of his prophecies were published in Les Propheties, where they were divided into Centuries and individual quatrains.

In Century II, Quatrain 6, Nostradamus wrote: “Near the gates and within two cities

“There will be two scourges the like of which was never seen,

“Famine within plague, people put out by steel,

“Crying to the great immortal God for relief.”
