A man was shot down on Tuesday by Norwegian police after he threatened several people with a knife on a public road and stabbed an agent in Oslo.

According to state television NRK, the incident took place in the Bislett area, in the north of the Norwegian capital, at 9 am local time [10 am in Lisbon].

At a press conference, Oslo Police Officer Egil Jorgen Brekke revealed that the stabbed officer was not seriously injured but was transported to a hospital.

The motives of the incident are being investigated by the authorities and, although all the hypotheses are being considered, the police do not believe that it is a terrorist attack.

Brekke stressed that it was apparently an “isolated act” and that the aggressor was already known to the authorities.

According to the newspaper Aftenposten, the assailant was arrested in 2019 after trying to kill and threaten several people with a knife in Oslo. He was eventually sentenced 11 years ago to receiving mental health care.
