Lewis Hamilton spoke only once in the dramatic final lap of the Abu Dhabi GP. It was right after being passed by Max Verstappen.
“This is being manipulated, man.” Those were Lewis Hamilton’s few words via radio at the end of the dramatic final lap of the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 GP. By that time, the seven-times champion had already been passed by Max Verstappen, who set off for victory at Yas Marina and the conquest of his first Formula 1 world title last Sunday (12).

Before all the catharsis for the final lap of the race and the season, Hamilton was leading the race and had an advantage of around 11s5 over Verstappen when the moment happened that changed the history of the race and the title.
The crash suffered by Nicholas Latifi at turn 14 led the race direction to trigger the safety car. At that point, Red Bull took the leap of faith by stopping Verstappen to switch from hard to soft tires, while Mercedes opted for the ‘safety ball’ and kept Hamilton on track.
