Spanish singer Carlos Marín, from the musical group Il Divo, died this Sunday, aged 53, in a hospital in the United Kingdom, announced the musical group on his official Twitter account.

“It is with great regret that we announce the death of our friend and companion Carlos Marín. Friends, family and fans will miss him. There will never be another voice with the spirit of Carlos”, says the message.

Marín was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital in Manchester, UK, intubated and in an induced coma, so on Thursday, the promoter of concerts scheduled for this Sunday, in Lisbon, and for Monday in Gondomar, it had announced its postponement to July 2022, “for health reasons”.

Il Divo was founded by Simon Cowell, following the desire to create an all-male lyrical quartet to perform mythical songs.

Marín forged his career as an actor in musicals such as “Les Miseráveis” or “A Bela eo Monstro” and joined this project in 2003, which also included Urs Bühler, Sébastien Izambard and David Miller.

Together they have edited nine albums to date, from the namesake “Il Divo” (2004) to the most recent “For Once In My Life: A Celebration of Motown” (2021), with which they have sold around 40 million copies throughout the country. world.

Solo, the baritone edited the album entitled “Portrait”, in which he created a version of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen, among other hits.

His three companions, David Miller, Sebastien Izambard and Urs Bühler, recalled, through the same social network, that for 17 years they were together on this “incredible Il Divo trip”, and that they will miss this “dear friend”.

Il Divo have performed eight times in Portugal – always with completely sold out venues – and were going to return with a show celebrating Christmas to take place this Sunday, at Altice Arena, in Lisbon, and Monday, at Multiusos de Gondomar, postponed on Thursday to July 24 and 23, 2022, respectively.
