Swedish agency investigates drones that flew over nuclear plants

Sweden’s national security agency announced today that it had taken over the preliminary investigation into the drones that last week were seen flying over the country’s three nuclear power plants.

“We haven’t really adapted our way of seeing this type of event to today’s reality”, said the academic.

“We still think of the world as being at peace or at war,” he added.

In 2019, reactor 2 at the Ringhals plant, in southwest Sweden, was permanently closed, with operators justifying the measure with the increase in operation maintenance costs and the lack of profit.

Alongside this structure, there are two other deactivated nuclear power plants in Sweden: Barseback, which is on a narrow waterway between Sweden and Denmark, and Agesta, south of the Swedish capital of Stockholm.
