The official Instagram page of the British royal family has just shared a set of images to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Elizabeth II’s reign.

The first photograph shows Elizabeth II at Sandringham House earlier this week. “This photograph was taken to mark Ascension Day 2022: the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty’s reign and the beginning of the Platinum Jubilee year,” reads the caption of the publication made this Sunday.

The second image dates back to 1959, the third to 1972, and the fourth to 1977. In all of them, there is the red box that has accompanied it throughout these decades. It is in these official boxes that the queen receives documents from her private secretaries when they do not reach her personally.

“The boxes contain documents that update Her Majesty on events in Parliament, as well as foreign and Commonwealth affairs, and State documents that require her signature and royal consent,” the image caption explains.
