The United Kingdom will impose sanctions on Belarus for its role in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the British government announced on Tuesday.

The sanctions will target individuals and organizations due to the Minsk regime’s role in the invasion of Ukraine, said Foreign Minister Liz Truss.

“The Lukashenko regime actively helps and encourages the illegal invasion perpetrated by Russia and will feel the economic consequences of its support for Putin,” she stressed.

Being an ally – or a puppet regime – of the Kremlin, the Belarusian government has authorized Russian military forces to enter Ukraine from its territory. There are also indications that several of the missiles fired at targets in Ukraine were launched from Belarus.
