According to a tweet by Max Seddon, the Financial Times correspondent in Moscow, Vladimir Putin is open to accepting “volunteers” to fight in the breakaway regions of Donetsk and Lugansk alongside Russian forces.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that most of these soldiers are from the Middle East. A number of around 16,000 operatives have already expressed their desire to fight in Donetsk and Lugansk.
Putin says Russia is going to recruit “volunteers” to fight against Ukraine and “help them make it to the combat zone.”
