At least four people died on Tuesday in an armed attack in the ultra-Orthodox city of Bnei Brak.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said on Tuesday that the country is being targeted by “a wave of Arab terrorism”, after an armed attack near Tel Aviv, which killed at least four people.

In a statement, Naftali Bennett assured that he will fight these attacks “with perseverance, stubbornness and an iron fist”.

The head of the Israeli government had already announced this Tuesday that he had called an emergency meeting with the main security authorities.

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz stressed through the social network Twitter that the security forces will “use all means to return security to Israeli streets and the feeling of security in civilians”.

FOUR KILLED IN ARMED ATTACK ON BNEI BRAK

At least four people died on Tuesday in an armed attack in the ultra-Orthodox city of Bnei Brak, near Tel Aviv, Israeli authorities revealed.

“The rescuers declared four dead and transported a fifth person in critical condition to the hospital,” said a source from Magen David Adom, an Israeli organization equivalent to the Red Cross, quoted by the EFE agency.

Initially, the authorities had reported the existence of five dead, information that has been corrected.

According to police, the shooter, who was traveling on a motorbike, was shot down.

The Israeli media say that the suspect is a Palestinian from the West Bank and two other previous attacks will have been carried out by Arab citizens of Israel, inspired by the Islamic State extremist group.

Video footage posted on social media shows a gunman on a motorcycle, dressed in black, firing an automatic weapon.

After the shooting, several citizens gathered in some places of the attack in protest and asking for “revenge” and “death to the Arabs”, according to local media reports.

HAMAS CELEBRATED THE ATTACK

In Gaza, the Islamist group Hamas celebrated the attack, although it did not claim responsibility.

This was “a natural response to the crimes of the [Israeli] occupation committed against the Palestinian people,” Hamas said.

Rescuers and witnesses reported on Tuesday another attack in the nearby city of Ramat Gan, with injuries.

These were the latest incidents that occurred in the last week, on the eve of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

On Sunday, two gunmen killed two police officers during a shootout in the central Israeli city of Hadera.

Last week, a man killed four people in a car and knife attack in the southern city of Beesheba.

The ‘jihadist’ group Daesh claimed responsibility for two of the attacks.
