A senior delegation from the Palestinian movement Hamas arrived in Moscow on Tuesday (3) at the invitation of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to hold “important talks” with local officials, according to information from the Tass news agency.
Moussa Abu Marzouk, vice president of the Hamas Political Cabinet, heads the delegation, which includes Fathi Hammad and Hussam Badran, as well as the group’s representative in the Russian capital.
According to the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Hamas officials are expected to meet with Russian Vice-Chancellor Mikhail Bogdanov and Kremlin diplomatic chief Sergei Lavrov. There are plans to meet with members of the Duma (parliament) and the Federation Council, as well as Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
The dialogue should focus on the situation in occupied Jerusalem, in addition to recent developments in the Palestinian territories and bilateral relations.
