The Israeli security forces issued a warning this Friday against two Palestinians suspected of killing three people in an alleged terrorist attack with a knife in the town of Elad, on the outskirts of Tel Aviv.
According to the Reuters news agency, citing a police source, the two suspects are from the Jenin region, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, and will have left the scene of the attack in a car.
The attack – which took place on Thursday, the day that Israel’s Independence Day was celebrated – in addition to the three fatalities, caused four injuries, one of them in a serious condition. According to the emergency service Magen David Adom, the three fatalities were men, in their 40s, while the seriously injured, also men, are between 35 and 60 years old.
The Palestinian armed group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, did not claim the attack but described it as a “heroic operation” and stressed that the “invasion of the Al-Aqsa mosque cannot go unpunished”, referring to the clashes. between Israeli police and about 150 Palestinians, which took place about three weeks ago.
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said the attackers would “pay the price” for their actions. “We will get our hands on the terrorists and their supportive environment. They will pay the price,” he said.
This attack is the sixth on Israeli soil since late March. In total, 18 people died.
