A member of the Guardians of the Revolution was “murdered” by gunfire on Sunday in eastern Tehran, the official IRNA news agency reported.
“Hassan Sayyad Khodai, a defender of the shrine, was killed in an armed attack by two drivers on Mohahedin-e Eslam Street in Tehran,” according to IRNA.
The term “defender of the sanctuary” refers to anyone working for the Islamic Republic in Syria and Iraq.
In a statement posted on their website, the Guardians of the Revolution said the victim was a colonel and denounced a “terrorist act” committed by “elements linked to world arrogance” (a reference to the United States and its allies, according to the official terminology of the Islamic Republic of Iran).
