Kherson was still resisting the onslaught of Ukrainian troops, but gave in on Tuesday night.

Vladimir Putin announced last Friday the annexation of four regions of Ukraine, specifically Donetsk, and Lugansk, both in the east and also Zaporijjia and Kherson, in the south. The truth, however, is that a few hours after he announced it, the Russians completely lost control of those same four regions.

Even before Vladimir Putin’s annexation speech and also the referendums held in these regions, Ukrainian troops, on 20 September, managed to recover the city of Bilohorivka, which is 20 kilometers from the Lysychansk-Sievierodonetsk area, the last stronghold of Ukrainian in the Luhansk region that Russia captured on July 3.

After this advance, last Saturday Ukraine claimed ownership of Lyman, an important and strategic city in the Donetsk region, something that was also confirmed by the Russian authorities.

Finally, on Monday night, Zelensky’s troops managed to break through Moscow’s defenses in the Kherson region. The information, once again, was confirmed by the Russian military, which means that, at the moment, Russia no longer fully controls any of the annexed regions.
