On Saturday, a strong storm system hit Florida, bringing with it intense rain and powerful winds that caused significant damage in Palm Beach Gardens. One of the effects of the storm was a tornado that touched down in the area, resulting in overturned cars, damaged homes, and snapped tree branches.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Miami, the tornado struck in the late afternoon on Saturday with winds of 100 mph (160 kph) in the vicinity of Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center before moving northeast towards the coast.

As a result of the storm damage, authorities in the coastal city had to close major roadways while workers cleared the debris and inspected the wreckage. The severity of the damage is evidenced by images from the scene, which showed cars flipped on top of each other, cracked tree limbs resting on vehicles and homes, and other debris littering the streets.

As of now, the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department has not reported any significant injuries or deaths resulting from the storm and tornado.

On Saturday afternoon, as thunderstorms swept across Florida, the U.S. National Weather Service had issued a tornado watch for a wide area in central Florida.
