Explosions of great intensity reverberated over Kyiv during the early hours of Tuesday as Russia initiated a forceful air assault on the capital, employing a combination of unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise missiles, and potentially ballistic missiles.

According to Serhii Popko, the head of the Kyiv military administration, this latest attack by Russia was unprecedented in its intensity, featuring an exceptionally high concentration of incoming missiles within the shortest span of time.

This marks the eighth instance this month in which Russian airstrikes have specifically targeted the capital, signaling a clear escalation following a period of relative calm and anticipation of an impending Ukrainian counter-offensive.

Coinciding with President Volodymyr Zelensky’s extensive tour of European nations to strengthen alliances with key wartime supporters, this latest attack has prompted a commitment of additional military aid.

Mr. Popko stated that, based on preliminary information, the majority of hostile targets within Kyiv’s airspace were successfully identified and neutralized. However, he did not provide specific figures regarding the number of missiles intercepted.

Debris resulting from the attack fell across various districts of the capital. In the Solomyansky district, it ignited a fire in a non-residential building, which was subsequently extinguished.

The falling debris also caused damage to vehicles and landed within the premises of a zoo, but fortunately, no casualties were reported, according to Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko.
