In a recent announcement, Ukraine’s defense ministry revealed that the long-range Storm Shadow missiles, generously provided by Britain, have achieved a perfect track record by effectively striking every single Russian target they were designated to engage. The ministry shared this remarkable accomplishment via a tweet on Sunday, crediting Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov for the information.

Following Ukraine’s request for enhanced long-range weaponry, the United Kingdom responded by providing the missiles in May.

According to MBDA, a renowned European missiles developer and manufacturer, the Storm Shadow missiles boast an impressive range exceeding 155 miles. In contrast, the US-manufactured satellite-guided HIMARS missiles have a comparatively limited reach of 50 miles.

The recent deployment of Storm Shadow missiles by Ukraine is seen as a significant development preceding their anticipated counter-offensive to regain territories occupied by Russia. According to George Barros, a Russia analyst at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the possession of these missiles by Ukraine is expected to have a demoralizing impact on Russian forces and their commanding officers operating within Ukraine.

In addition to the Storm Shadow missile strikes, Ukraine made headlines by reporting the successful interception of six of Russia’s Kinzhal missiles on May 16, despite Russia’s prior claims of their invincibility. This development has weakened Russia’s position in the conflict, as noted by Fabian Hoffmann, a defense and nuclear strategy researcher.

However, Russia has disputed Ukraine’s success by asserting that they managed to intercept two of the new Storm Shadow missiles, along with a HIMARS launcher, HARM missiles, and 12 drones of shorter range, as reported by Reuters.

As of now, Ukraine’s defense ministry has not responded to Insider’s request for comment made outside regular business hours.
