Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the ongoing counteroffensive was progressing favorably.

Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, commander of Ukrainian troops in the southern Tavriia sector, described the situation for Russian forces as increasingly dire, with Ukrainian soldiers skillfully eliminating the enemy.

The counteroffensive, aimed at reclaiming Russian-occupied territory, was launched by Ukraine in early June. While eight settlements have been recaptured by Ukrainian armed forces, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar noted that a decisive counteroffensive from Kyiv is yet to begin, according to Mykhailo Podolyak, an aide to President Zelensky.

According to Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar, Ukraine has successfully liberated several settlements, including Novodarovka, Levadne, Storozheve, Makarivka, Blagodatne, Lobkove, Neskuchne, and Piatykhatky.

Additionally, she stated that over the past two weeks, Ukraine’s military has made significant progress by advancing seven kilometers (four miles) to the south and reclaiming approximately 113 square kilometers (44 square miles) of its territory.

Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi reported that in the Tavriia sector, the missile troops and artillery units of the Defense Forces conducted 1,829 fire missions in a single day. He further stated that during that period, the enemy suffered significant casualties, with more than four companies reported as killed or wounded.

According to GlobalSecurity.org, a U.S. think tank, the size of a company in the Russian army can vary from 30 to 150 soldiers, depending on the type of troops. Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi reported that Ukraine successfully destroyed and damaged a total of 77 pieces of Russian military equipment during the operations.

Furthermore, Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi stated that among the destroyed and damaged Russian military equipment were a Ka-52 helicopter, 24 tanks, 12 BMP units, 5 BBM, 3 MTLB (various types of armored vehicles), 2 armored personnel carriers, 2 Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicles, a Zala unmanned aerial vehicle, and a Sturm-S anti-tank missile system. In addition to that, Ukraine’s armed forces successfully targeted and destroyed 12 Russian ammunition storage sites.

According to the assessment made by the British Defense Ministry on Sunday, significant losses have been incurred by both Russia and Ukraine since the start of the counteroffensive.

The ministry noted that heavy fighting has persisted in recent days, with the most intense combat concentrated in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, western Donetsk Oblast, and the vicinity of Bakhmut. It acknowledged that Ukraine has achieved minor advances in these regions.

According to the British Defense Ministry, in the southern region, Russian forces have been conducting defensive operations that have proven relatively effective. Both sides are experiencing significant casualties, with Russian losses expected to be the highest since the peak of the battle for Bakhmut in March.

Ukrainian President Zelensky commended the effectiveness of Ukraine’s armed forces in repelling assaults near Avdiivka in the Donetsk region, stating that they are making progress by advancing position by position.
