The leader of the paramilitary group Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced that his private army has crossed the Russian border in the Rostov region, located in the south of the country. He stated that he is willing to “go all the way” after calling for a rebellion against the military command of the country.

Previously, the Russian news agency TASS reported the implementation of security measures in Moscow following Prigozhin’s call for a revolt against the Ministry of Defense.

“We have crossed the state border at all locations. The border guards came out and embraced our fighters. We have now entered Rostov,” he said in an audio message released on his Telegram channel.

Prigozhin also assured that he is determined to “go all the way” and “destroy anything that stands in his way.”

“We continue, and we will go all the way,” said the owner of the paramilitary group, who claimed to have 25,000 fighters at his disposal.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also stated that Ukrainian forces were preparing to launch an attack near the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, taking advantage of the chaos caused by Prigozhin’s call for rebellion.

“Exploiting Prigozhin’s provocation to destabilize the situation, the Kiev regime is regrouping units from the 35th and 36th Marine Brigades for offensive actions” in the Bakhmut area, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated in a press release. It further claimed that Ukrainian forces were being targeted by Russian aviation and artillery.

Earlier, the FSB had announced an investigation into the leader of the Wagner paramilitary group, following Yevgeny Prigozhin’s call for a revolt against the Russian military command, whom he accused of attacking his fighters.

“The claims made on behalf of Yevgeny Prigozhin are unfounded. (…) The FSB [Russian security services] has opened an investigation into the incitement of an armed mutiny,” stated the Russian National Antiterrorism Committee in a press release, as reported by Russian news agencies.

The Russian presidency (Kremlin) has announced that the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, is being informed about the conflict between the Russian Army and the Wagner Group.

The Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, quoted by the Tass news agency, also assured that necessary measures are being taken.
