The leader of the paramilitary group Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has agreed to suspend the movements of the rebellion in Russia against the military command after negotiating with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
Prigozhin has ordered Wagner group soldiers to retreat to their bases due to the risk of “Russian bloodshed,” said the leader on the Telegram social network.
“Yevgeny Prigozhin has accepted the proposal […] to halt the movements of the armed men from the Wagner group and take measures to reduce tensions,” the unofficial Belarusian Presidential channel announced on the Telegram messaging service.
According to the statement, Vladimir Putin spoke with Lukashenko in the morning, and with his approval, Lukashenko conducted negotiations with Prigozhin. “The negotiations continued throughout the day. As a result, they reached an agreement on the inadmissibility of unleashing a bloody massacre on Russian territory,” the statement says.
