In December 2022, Galvion, a leading provider of integrated head systems and power and data management solutions, secured a framework contract from the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA). The contract was awarded to supply Galvion’s flagship Batlskin Caiman® ballistic helmet system to any NATO country interested in purchasing through the NSPA.

Galvion is renowned for its expertise in designing, developing, and delivering mission-critical head, face, and torso survivability solutions, as well as intelligent power and data management systems for military and tactical teams. With a focus on integrated systems that enhance performance and survivability, Galvion continually evolves its products and technology to meet the demanding needs of modern battlefields. The company’s advanced design, user insights, and intelligent integration enable them to develop solutions that exceed expectations.

The NSPA contract was awarded following extensive user trials conducted by the lead user nation under NSPA’s supervision. The initial contract duration is three years, with options for extensions up to a maximum of seven years.

Galvion’s Batlskin Caiman® helmet was selected by the NSPA to meet the higher performance category requirements. The helmet comes in five sizes and features the innovative APEX lining system, which allows for customizable fitting and offers exceptional stability for modern night and visual augmentation devices. The Caiman helmet is scalable for dynamic operations, and mission-specific accessories such as visors, mandibles, and helmet covers can be obtained through the framework contract. It has already been successfully deployed and is in service with multiple countries, primarily utilized by Special Operations Forces.

The Caiman platform stands out for its unmatched weight and comfort, and it is designed to accommodate electronics, communications headsets, and other essential equipment both now and in the future. Galvion collaborates with top-tier partners to develop and integrate capability enhancements, ensuring that the Caiman platform continues to evolve and meet the evolving needs of missions. This includes scalable power, communications, strobes, and visual displays.

NATO nations benefit from the convenience of ordering Galvion’s Caiman helmet systems directly through the NSPA, bypassing lengthy competition processes. Galvion also plans to expand its portfolio of Caiman accessories, which will be available through the NSPA framework. These accessories can be purchased concurrently with the helmets or added later, providing flexibility for countries that have already procured the helmets.
