The head of Britain’s MI6 foreign spy service, Richard Moore, stated that Vladimir Putin is “clearly under pressure” following the Wagner group’s mutiny attempt in June.
In his second speech since assuming the position as chief of the Secret Intelligence Service in 2020, Moore urged Russians who are appalled by the war in Ukraine to collaborate with his intelligence service to bring an end to the bloodshed.
According to Moore, there seems to be little chance of Moscow regaining momentum in Ukraine, and he expressed optimism about Kyiv’s counteroffensive.
Recently, Russia has been evacuating thousands of people from the Crimean peninsula due to a fire that erupted at a military training base in the Kirovske district.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s port city of Odesa faced “hellish” scenes overnight as it endured further Russian airstrikes, as reported by officials. These airstrikes occurred after Vladimir Putin withdrew from an agreement that permitted safe grain exports from the region.
The authorities are currently assessing the extent of damage and casualties resulting from the “very powerful, truly massive” attack, according to Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesperson for the Odesa military administration.
