The Chinese consulate in Ukraine’s port city Odesa was damaged in the overnight attacks by Russia, the region’s Ukrainian governor said. According to reports, at least two were killed and 27 suffered injuries in Russia’s strike on Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv.

Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper said the Chinese consulate’s building got hit in the attacks. “As a result of the Russian night attack, the building of the consulate general of the People’s Republic of China in Odesa was damaged,” The Guardian quoted Kiper as saying.

Ukraine accused Russia of deliberately attacking the port’s infrastructure. “The aggressor deliberately hits the port infrastructure. Administrative and residential buildings, as well as the consulate of the People’s Republic of China, were damaged. This suggests that the enemy does not pay attention to anything,” the publication quoted Kiper as saying. 

According to reports, a security guard got killed in Odesa and another person died in Russian shelling in Kharkiv’s north-eastern region. At least 27 persons got wounded in Russia’s overnight strikes over Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy slammed Russia’s attacks and said, “The evil state(Russia) has no missiles that are more powerful than our will to save lives, support each other and win.”

Zelenskyy charged that Russia was targeting grains stored at the port, meant to be exported to China and African countries. Zelenskyy said, “This attack proves that their target is not only Ukraine, and not only the lives of our people. About a million tons of food is stored in the ports that were attacked. This is the volume that should have been delivered to consumer countries in Africa and Asia long ago. The port terminal that suffered the most from the Russian terror last night had 60,000 tons of agricultural products stored in it, which were intended to be shipped to China.”
