WASHINGTON

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken asserted on Sunday that Ukraine has successfully recaptured approximately half of the territory previously seized by Russia.

During an interview with CNN, the top US diplomat emphasized that Russia’s attempt to erase Ukraine from the map and assimilate it into Russia failed long ago. He praised Ukraine’s resilience in safeguarding its independence and sovereignty.

Blinken stated that Ukraine is currently engaged in a challenging battle to regain more of the land that was initially taken by Russia. As of now, they have already reclaimed around 50% of the seized territory, but the fight to regain further ground remains intense and demanding.

Acknowledging the long-term nature of the conflict, Blinken indicated that Ukraine’s counteroffensive against Russia may continue for several more months. He recognized the difficulties they face in this process.

In support of Ukraine’s efforts, Blinken confirmed that F-16 fighter jets will be provided to bolster their defense against Russia. He emphasized the importance of proper training and maintenance to ensure the effective use of these advanced aircraft.

Notably, Denmark and the Netherlands are playing a significant role among Western nations in training Ukrainian pilots to operate the F-16 fighter jets. This collaborative effort reflects the international commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

As the situation continues to evolve, the international community remains vigilant in providing assistance to Ukraine and supporting its efforts to reclaim its territorial integrity.
