Russia has added Norway to its list of unfriendly countries and regions. The list was first created in March 2022, in response to the sanctions imposed on Russia by the United States and its allies following the invasion of Ukraine. Norway was not initially included on the list but was added on June 15, 2022.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the decision to add Norway was made because of the country’s “unfriendly actions” towards Russia. These actions include the imposition of sanctions, the supply of weapons to Ukraine, and the closure of Norwegian airspace to Russian airlines.

The addition of Norway to the list of unfriendly countries means that Russian citizens and businesses will face additional restrictions when traveling to or doing business in Norway. These restrictions could include visa bans, asset freezes, and restrictions on financial transactions.

The Norwegian government has said that it is “deeply disappointed” by Russia’s decision to add Norway to the list of unfriendly countries. The government has said that it will continue to support Ukraine and work with its allies to impose sanctions on Russia.

The addition of Norway to the list of unfriendly countries is a further sign of the deterioration in relations between Russia and Norway. The two countries have a long history of cooperation, but this has been strained in recent years due to Russia’s annexation of Crimea and its support for separatists in eastern Ukraine.

Here is the list of unfriendly countries and regions as defined by Russia:

  • Albania
  • Andorra
  • Australia
  • Canada
  • European Union member states
  • Iceland
  • Japan
  • Liechtenstein
  • Micronesia, Federated States of
  • Monaco
  • Montenegro
  • North Macedonia
  • Norway
  • South Korea
  • San Marino
  • Singapore
  • Switzerland
  • Taiwan
  • Ukraine
  • United Kingdom

On July 22, 2022, Russia added Croatia, Denmark, Greece, Slovakia, and Slovenia to the list.

The list is subject to change, and Russia has said that it will add more countries to the list if they continue to take “unfriendly actions” towards Russia.
