According to Russia’s defense ministry, Ukraine launched an attack on a Russian navy base located near the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, a crucial hub for Russian exports. The incident occurred early on Friday and involved Ukrainian sea drones, which reportedly targeted the navy base. However, Russian warships successfully neutralized the drones, preventing any significant damage to the facility.

In response to the attack, the Novorossiysk port temporarily suspended all ship movements as a precautionary measure. The Caspian Pipeline Consortium, which operates an oil terminal at the port, confirmed that its facilities remained undamaged, and oil loadings continued onto tankers that were already docked.

Reports of explosions and gunfire near Novorossiysk surfaced on social media, suggesting the intensity of the incident. If verified, this attack would mark the first instance of a Ukrainian assault on one of Russia’s major commercial ports.

As the situation unfolds, authorities and international observers are closely monitoring the developments in the region. The attack near Novorossiysk highlights the escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine and underscores the potential risks to critical infrastructure in the area.
