Arvydas Anušauskas, the Defense Minister of Lithuania, has announced the completion of the delivery of the last 200 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) acquired in 2019. He emphasized that the Lithuanian Defense Forces are set to further bolster their capabilities with the introduction of an additional 300 JLTV armored vehicles, commencing in 2024. This expansion is in line with a bilateral agreement forged with the United States in the preceding year.

Anušauskas highlighted this development, stating, “From the forthcoming year, we are set to take delivery of 300 more JLTVs, as per the accord signed with the USA in 2022.”

The JLTV, initially conceived by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Army, serves as a replacement for the aging Humvees in the Marines’ fleet. This versatile vehicle encompasses various mission package configurations, encompassing options tailored for personnel transport, heavy weaponry, and close combat situations.

The maiden contract for JLTVs was awarded in 2015, and subsequent orders were placed in 2016. Notably, the manufacturer has extended its reach beyond the United States, catering to overseas allies and partners including Britain, Belgium, Montenegro, Slovenia, Lithuania, Brazil, and North Macedonia.
