Since the commencement of Russia’s invasion on February 24, 2022, the Ukrainian Air Force has executed more than 14,000 combat air missions, encompassing crucial roles such as close-air support operations.

Drawing from a Ukrainian Air Force report, Militarnyi disclosed that Ukraine’s combat aircraft have actively engaged in targeting enemy command centers and warehouses, intercepting adversarial planes and helicopters, and neutralizing drones and missiles employed by the Russian Federation in its offensive against Ukraine.

Brigadier General Serhiy Golubtsov, the head of aviation within the AFU Air Force Command, stated, “Since the onset of the large-scale Russian invasion, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has conducted over 14,000 combat sorties, with approximately 6,000 dedicated to engaging and defeating enemy forces, and around 7,000 focused on providing air cover.”

Golubtsov also acknowledged that amidst the full-scale conflict with Russia, numerous pilots have been awarded the prestigious title of Heroes of Ukraine, while a significant number of aviators have received prominent state honors.

Leveraging support from allied nations extending military aid to counter Russia’s aggression, Ukrainian aircraft have been adapted to integrate foreign weaponry into their arsenals. These include AGM-88 HARM, JDAM, Storm Shadow, and SCALP EG cruise missiles.
