In the latest aviation incident at Norway’s main airport, a Scandinavian Airlines plane encountered trouble as it left the gate at Oslo Gardermoen airport, resulting in minor damage to the aircraft. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, marking the third mishap in just two weeks at the busy Norwegian airport.

The affected flight, bound for Stockholm, experienced a collision with a fence when its left wing tip struck a railing during the departure process, according to information provided by Scandinavian Airlines to The Associated Press. The exact number of passengers on board at the time remains unknown.

Notably, two out of the three recent incidents at Oslo airport occurred due to pushback maneuvers from the same gate, shared Monica Iren Fasting, a spokesperson for the airport. Fasting emphasized that a comprehensive review of all these incidents would be conducted.

As a consequence of the most recent occurrence on Wednesday, the gate involved was temporarily closed for further assessment, disrupting airport operations.

Tonje Sund, a spokesperson for Scandinavian Airlines, revealed to the Norwegian newspaper VG that the aircraft sustained damage significant enough to warrant grounding. However, the precise extent and nature of the damage have not been disclosed as of now.

This incident follows a similar event on February 2, where a Norwegian airline plane destined for Stockholm collided with a fence at the same gate. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in that incident either.

In another recent occurrence on Tuesday, a different Norwegian plane, en route to Kristiansand, made contact with another aircraft, resulting in a wing-to-wing collision. Charlotte Holmbergh, the head of communications for the airline, explained that one plane was in the process of taxiing when another Norwegian plane “came too close and hit the flight next to it at low speed,” causing their wings to touch. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in this incident.

With three incidents in such a short span, authorities and airlines are likely to intensify their focus on safety protocols and operational procedures at Oslo Gardermoen airport, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding these occurrences.
