TRENTON, N.J.  — A man suspected of killing three people in their Philadelphia-area homes on Saturday was later apprehended in New Jersey’s capital city following a significant police response and a lengthy standoff, authorities confirmed.

Steve Wilson, the police director for the city of Trenton, reported that the suspect was discovered near a residence where he was believed to have barricaded himself and was subsequently taken into custody. Notably, the suspect managed to evade the perimeter around the home before it was established, according to Wilson. However, he added that the suspect was unarmed at the time of the arrest, and fortunately, no other individuals were harmed during the incident.

The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Andre Gordon Jr., was accused of perpetrating the shootings that claimed the lives of his stepmother, his teenage sister, and the mother of his children. The tragic events unfolded in two homes located in eastern Pennsylvania’s Falls Township during the morning, as confirmed by Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn.

While authorities have yet to ascertain a motive for the attacks, they revealed that Gordon had previous minor encounters with law enforcement. Falls Township Police Chief Nelson Whitney stated during a news conference that these encounters did not suggest the possibility of such a violent outcome.

Notably, Gordon, believed to be homeless, triggered a series of disturbances that prompted the cancellation of a St. Patrick’s Day parade and the closure of a Sesame Street-themed amusement park. Additionally, authorities in Pennsylvania’s Bucks County issued a shelter-in-place order for select areas for several hours.

After fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle and subsequently engaging in a carjacking at a store parking lot, Gordon sought refuge in a residence in nearby Trenton, according to officials. Law enforcement officers quickly mobilized, surrounding the house and initiating efforts to persuade Gordon to surrender peacefully.

Neighbors gathered nearby as law enforcement agencies meticulously executed their operations. Thankfully, the residents of the home were safely evacuated without injury, according to the Trenton Police Department.

Schorn provided further details, indicating that Gordon initially broke into a home in Levittown, where he allegedly murdered his 52-year-old stepmother and 13-year-old sister. Subsequently, he proceeded to another residence in Levittown, where he fatally shot 25-year-old Taylor Daniel, the mother of his children. Although Daniel’s mother sustained injuries, she is expected to recover.

The suspect’s chaotic journey concluded in Trenton after carjacking a vehicle and fleeing the scene. Investigations revealed Gordon’s ties to addresses in Bucks County and Trenton, with authorities confirming his primary residence in Trenton.

As the investigation progresses, communities affected by this tragedy grapple with grief and shock, emphasizing the importance of community support and resilience during times of crisis.
