Russian forces mount intense assaults on the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove fronts, putting extreme pressure on Ukrainian defenders.

A staggering 181 combat clashes were recorded over the past 24 hours on 11 different fronts, as Russian forces launched a concentrated series of assaults across eastern Ukraine. The most intense fighting took place on the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove fronts, where Ukrainian troops faced a total of 87 attacks.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine provided an update via Facebook at 08:00 on 6 September, detailing the ongoing confrontations and highlighting the fierce resistance put up by Ukrainian defenders.

Key Areas of Conflict

  • Pokrovsk Front: Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled 51 Russian assaults near several key settlements, including Sukha Balka, Vozdvyzhenka, and the city of Novohrodivka, which saw the highest concentration of attacks. This front has become a focal point for Russian offensive operations, as they aim to break through Ukrainian lines.
  • Kurakhove Front: Another 36 Russian attacks were thwarted by Ukrainian forces near the settlements of Lysivka, Halytsynivka, and Kostiantynivka. The Russian military appears determined to push through these heavily contested areas, but Ukrainian forces remain resolute.

Other Battlefronts

The conflict extends beyond these two main fronts, with numerous skirmishes reported across various regions:

  • Kharkiv Front: Seven clashes took place near the settlements of Starytsia and Vovchansk.
  • Kupiansk Front: Ukrainian forces repelled 15 Russian assaults near Synkivka, Hlushkivka, Lozova, and Andriivka.
  • Lyman Front: Seventeen combat clashes were recorded, with Russian forces attacking near Druzheliubivka, Makiivka, and Novosadove.
  • Siversk Front: Ten battles occurred as Ukrainian forces held their positions against Russian attempts to break through near Verkhnokamianske, Vyimka, and Spirne.
  • Kramatorsk Front: Ukrainian defenders faced 14 Russian assaults, including near Chasiv Yar and Klishchiivka.
  • Toretsk Front: Sixteen combat clashes took place near Toretsk, Leonidivka, and Nelipivka.

Additional Russian Offensive Activity

On the Vremivka Front, Russian forces conducted 11 offensive actions near Vodiane and Vuhledar. Meanwhile, on the Orikhiv Front, Ukrainian troops repelled a Russian assault near the village of Robotyne. On the Prydniprovske Front, Ukrainian forces inflicted further losses on Russian troops during three Russian attacks. The Huliaipole Front saw no significant changes in the operational situation.

Border Tensions and Russian Bombardment

On the border with Ukraine’s Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts, Russian forces continue to maintain a military presence, launching mortar and artillery bombardments from the territory of the Russian Federation.

Significant Russian Losses

Despite the intensity of Russian assaults, Ukrainian forces are inflicting heavy losses on the Russian military, both in manpower and equipment. As the battle lines remain contested, Russia’s continued offensive operations are depleting their resources, while Ukrainian defenders hold their ground across the line of contact.

The relentless nature of the conflict highlights the ongoing and escalating intensity of the war, with both sides locked in a brutal struggle for control of critical areas in eastern Ukraine.
